Golf is very popular in Ireland, with over 400 golf clubs throughout the island, and over 300 courses in the Republic of Ireland. Golf is regularly televised in Ireland, with both domestic and international events broadcast.
Savvy golfers know there's a string of quality links just north of the city. The Royal Dublin Golf Club was instituted at a meeting held at No. 19 Grafton Street in May 1885, pioneered by a Scottish banker, John Lumsden. Originally called Dublin Golf Club and was located near the Magazine Fort in the Phoenix Park, in 1889 The Club moved to its present home here on the Bull Island.
Boasting 110 acres of lush green fairways and stunning views, Elmgreen Golf Centre is an 18-hole course just 10 minutes from the centre of Dublin. Designed by acclaimed Irish golf architect Eddie Hackett, Elmgreen Golf Centre first opened to the public in 1995.
Howth Golf Club is located on the beautiful scenic peninsula of Howth in North-East County Dublin, Ireland and features wonderful views over the city of Dublin. Looking south, we have Dun Laoghaire, Bray and Co. Wicklow, North over Co. Dublin and Co. Louth and the Sea to the East.
